Manuela is 29 years old and has a degree in environmental science. In the Garden she prepares and organises courses about the natural environment, focusing on plants, taxonomy, endemism and more. She is in very close contact with schools because she also does graphic design for the Botanical Garden, i.e. designing educational posters and brochures explaining different aspects of plants and plant life.

Who is Manuela?
She is passionate about nature, loves working with people and she is greatly concerned about how humans are contributing to the degradation of our planet. For her work is very important to promote nature conservation and at the same time to raise awareness about important issues as climate change, sustainable development, the circular economy and more.
What does the future hold for her?
She would like a permanent position in the Botanical Garden, as an environmental educator.
How does Manuela see her work/study in the longer term?
She would like to work more closely not only with students and schools but with non-profit organizations to put into practice some of the ideas that she teaches in her courses. In the longer term she would like to create a non-profit organization for the defense of nature.
How does Manuela use technology?
As an environmental educator, Manuela has to have multidisciplinary knowledge including natural, social and technological sciences. She spends a lot of time on the internet preparing her courses, looking for suitable high-quality content, images, photographs and up-to-date environmental news.
